What is an X-ray?

X-ray imaging provides detailed images of bones, teeth, joints, and internal organs, some soft tissues. X-ray radiation is a form of ionising radiation. The exposure involves a low dose and carries minimal risk. During an X-ray procedure, safe X-ray beams pass through your body and get absorbed differently by each organ based on its density. In the X-ray report, the air in the body appears black, bones show up as clear white, fat looks light grey, and muscles appear as softer grey. Also, a few patients are recommended to receive X-ray contrast. A contrast dye is injected into the patients to enhance the image quality.

X-rays generally diagnose bone fractures, knee arthritis, cancer, osteoporosis, and dental decay, along with enlarged hearts and blocked blood vessels.
